OLTRARNO GAZE Perspectives from Florence and Firenze »»
The Associazione Culturale Il Palmerino APS reopens its gates to the public with new and numerous proposals in the context of Florence Unusual, an initiative created with the contribution of the Municipality of Florence as part of the project to promote and enhance the city and its territory. Oltrarno Gaze. Perspectives from Florence and Firenze restarts from the Victoria Slichter exhibition, suspended at the end of October and now visible again for the month of February before being moved to the premises of the Conventino, in Oltrarno’ Florence, protagonist of the painter's portraits. On this point, the driving thread of the project will be the weaving of a new dialogue with the neighborhood, starting from a reflection on the history of our places up to today's Florence, on the dichotomy between the city of its inhabitants and the 'Florence' of visitors . The project, developed by the Associazione Culturale Il Palmerino APS and Advancing Women Artists, will continue in February, March and April. On 5,6,19 and 20 February it will be possible to take part in guided tours for small groups in the garden surrounding the cultural center and Villa il Palmerino, former home of the English writer Vernon Lee and of the artists Lola Costa and Federigo Angeli. The winter views of the Tuscan hills will be followed by a tour of the exhibition on display in the halls of the center. At the same time, in a path that involves the pupils of the 4th class of the Porta Romana Art School, the Atelier degli Artigianelli has selected four winning sketches from among the twenty-six works created by the students. The authors will take part in the workshop entitled 'Hands that meet the future' in the premises of the headquarters in via dei Serragli next month. Starting from the sketches, lithographs will be created which will then be watercolored by the scholarship students under the guidance of the Puck studio in via Santo Spirito. The works created by the students will then be exhibited from 20 March in a new exhibition at the headquarters of the Palmerino Cultural Association, where the awards ceremony will take place. The program then continues with interviews with artisans and artists, conferences and meetings to explore the origins of the myth of Florence in the international imagination, with respect to the modern creative reality of Florence of which the artisans are the protagonists. The collaboration in the project of the partners British Institute of Florence, Atelier degli Artigianelli, Studio Puck, Il Conventino Caffè Letterario of the Sustainable City Association, Officina Creativa di Artex, Rossella Lari Restauro, Pio Istituto dei Bardi, Creative People in Florence, Art High School of Porta Romana, OMA - Art Professions Observatory, Spazio Nota.
